Frances, while she has been a jeweller for many years, is a chartered engineer and has a range of other interests including rowing, offshore yacht racing and ornithology. These influences can be observed throughout her work and have translated directly into a number of pieces, for instance her "blades" range, based upon silver oar blades.
With a history of living between the city and coutryside and working both in big business and small, local enterprices, as well as significant periods of time abroad, Frances has a wealth of inspiration to draw upon. This, she believes, forms the basis for her jewllery which, through its form and movement, conveys something deeper than pure aesthetic design.
Frances enjoys sharing her knowledge and has varied experience of teaching jewellery and metalwork. She runs a workshop one day a month at the Court Cupboard Craft Gallery. She can arrange additional classes for groups on request, providing a special day out with your friends and a piece of jewellery to keep at the end of it.
